Tips for texts customers answer
- Say who you are in the first few words. Customers ignore texts from numbers they don't recognise.
- Use their first name, and send at a sensible time of day.
- Keep each text to one message (160 characters) where you can.
- Send review requests to every customer, not just the ones you think were happy.
Questions about this tool
Can I text customers to ask for a Google review?
Yes. Google allows businesses to ask for reviews, as long as you ask every customer, don't offer anything in return and don't tell people what to write. These templates are written to follow those rules.
Why does the counter say 2 texts?
A standard text holds 160 characters. Longer messages are split and may cost more to send. Emoji and some special characters cut the limit to 70, so the counter warns you.
Do I need customers' permission to text them?
Service messages about a booking the customer made, like reminders, are usually expected. Marketing texts generally need consent and a way to opt out, and the rules differ by country, so check what applies to you.
How soon should I send a review request?
Within a few hours of the visit or job, while it's fresh. One gentle reminder a few days later is plenty.
