Google Business Profile photos: what to add and Google's requirements
Add a logo, a cover photo and at least three real photos of each type that fits your business: outside, inside, your team, your work and your products. Google accepts JPG or PNG files between 10 KB and 5 MB, and recommends 720 by 720 pixels. Real, unfiltered photos help customers decide; stock images don't.
Google's requirements
| Photos | Videos | |
|---|---|---|
| Format | JPG or PNG | Standard video files |
| Size | 10 KB to 5 MB | Up to 75 MB |
| Resolution | 720 x 720 px recommended, 250 x 250 px minimum | 720p or higher |
| Length | Up to 30 seconds |
Google says images should represent reality, without significant alterations or heavy filters. Photos only appear once your profile is verified.
Which photos to add
Google says business photos spotlight the features customers use when deciding to buy, and recommends at least three of most types:
- Exterior: from each direction customers approach, so they recognise you when they arrive.
- Interior: the look and feel of the place.
- At work: your team doing the job, from a haircut to a boiler repair.
- Team: management and staff, for a personal feel.
- Products or food and drink: your most popular items.
- Common areas or rooms, if you're a gym, spa or hotel.
Plus a logo, so people recognise you on Google, and a cover photo that represents the business well. Google may not always show the cover photo first.
Tips that make photos work
- Shoot in daylight, on a phone held horizontally, with the subject filling the frame.
- Show real customers or their homes only with their permission.
- Add new photos regularly, such as a recent job every week or two. Customers notice when the newest photo is from 2019.
- Check customer-uploaded photos too. You can report ones that break Google's rules.
