How good is your Google Business Profile?
Tick what you've already done. You'll get a score out of 100 and the fixes that matter most, in order.
Fix these first
- Claim and verify the profile, and keep ownership yourself. Add your agency as a manager, never as the only owner.
- Pick the narrowest primary category that completes “This business IS a…”. It's the biggest single ranking factor you control.
- Ask every customer, not just happy ones, by text, email or a QR code at the till.
- Set holiday and special hours in advance. Being open when people search is a strong ranking signal.

Questions about this tool
How is the score worked out?
Each of the 15 checks is weighted by how much it matters for showing up and getting chosen. Your category, verification and reviews count the most.
What's the most important thing to fix?
Usually your primary category and your reviews. The most specific category is the biggest ranking factor you control, and a steady flow of new reviews helps you rank and win the click.
Does a high score guarantee I'll rank first?
No. Distance from the searcher matters a lot and you can't change it. A complete profile gives you the best chance wherever you can rank.
Where can I learn how to do each step?
Our Google Business Profile checklist guide walks through all 15 steps, with Google's limits for each.
