How to write a Google Business Profile description (with examples)
Your Google Business Profile description can be up to 750 characters. Say what you do, who for and where, what makes you different and how long you've been going. Don't include links, prices, promotions or sales: Google asks you to keep it about the business. Put the most important details in the first two sentences.
Google's rules
- No more than 750 characters.
- No URLs or HTML code. Google's guidelines say no links of any type are allowed.
- Focus on the business rather than promotions, prices or sales. Use Google posts for offers.
- Be accurate and honest. Misleading or irrelevant content breaks Google's guidelines.
Google suggests including what you offer, what makes you special, how long you've been in business and anything else helpful for customers. It reviews changes before they go live, and the text appears in the “From the business” section of your profile.
What to put first
Profiles often show only the start of the description before a “More” link, so lead with the essentials: what you do, for whom and where. BrightLocal suggests the first 250 characters or so do most of the work.
The description is for customers. Mentioning your main service and area naturally is fine, but keyword stuffing reads badly and doesn't help.

If Google rejects it
Check it against the rules above, especially links, prices and offers, and edit it. Keep a copy of your text before you submit, so you don't have to rewrite it from scratch.
