How to add a manager or owner to your Google Business Profile
To add someone to your Google Business Profile, go to business.google.com, open More, then Business Profile settings, then People and access, select Add, enter their email and choose Owner or Manager. They can accept straight away. New users must wait 7 days before they can do some things, such as becoming primary owner.
Owner or manager?
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Primary owner | Everything. There's only one, and they must transfer the role before they can leave. |
| Owner | Everything, including adding and removing people and removing the profile. |
| Manager | Almost everything: edit details, post, add photos, reply to reviews and see performance. They can't add or remove people or remove the profile. |
Add an owner or manager
- Go to business.google.com.
- Select More, then "Business Profile settings", then "People and access".
- Select Add.
- Enter their email address. Each person needs their own Google Account.
- Under Access, choose Owner or Manager.
- Select Invite.
They can accept the invite and start straight away, and you'll get an email when they do. Until then, the invite shows under Pending, where you can cancel it.
Remove someone
- Open "People and access" in your Business Profile settings.
- Select the person, then "Remove person".
Only owners can remove other owners and managers. Their past posts and review replies stay on your profile.
Transfer primary ownership
- Make sure the new primary owner is already an owner or manager.
- In "People and access", select them.
- Next to Access, select Edit.
- Choose "Primary owner" and select Save.
- Only the primary owner can transfer the role.
- New owners and managers must wait 7 days before they can become primary owner, remove other users, or delete the profile.
- If you're the primary owner, you can't remove yourself until you've transferred the role.
When staff or an agency leave
- Remove their access on their last day.
- If they were primary owner, ask them to transfer it to you before they go.
- If you can't reach them, you can request ownership of the profile through Google.
