Tips for naming your business
- Say it the way a customer would: "Meet you at …". If it sounds odd in that sentence, it won't stick.
- Picture it on a cup and above the door. Short names (one to three words) print bigger and read from across the street.
- A street or neighbourhood name makes you feel local, but it can tie you down if you open a second site elsewhere.
- Coffee puns are popular, so check the name isn't already used by a cafe near you.
- Check the Instagram handle early. For cafes it's often the first place people look you up.

Should my cafe name include the word coffee?
It helps people understand what you are at a glance, especially on a new sign. If your name is a made-up word, a line like "coffee and kitchen" underneath does the same job.
Can I add words like my town or service to my Google listing name?
Only if they're part of your real business name, used on your sign and paperwork. Google asks that the name on your Business Profile matches the name you use in the real world, so choose the full name you want from the start.
