How much does Checkatrade cost? Membership prices, contracts and leads in 2026

Checkatrade doesn't publish a price list: membership is quoted for your trade and area, and memberships run for 12 months. Third-party trade sites report plans from around £59 a month, with typical spend of about £50 to £200 a month depending on how busy your area is. Membership includes vetting, a profile, leads and review tools.

What Checkatrade costs

Checkatrade has no public price list: its join site shows prices only after you choose your trade. Its Fixed Plans give a regular flow of leads for a monthly fee. Bigger firms spending over £1,500 a month on leads can pay per lead instead, priced by trade, postcode and volume.

Because there's no official price list, these are figures reported by other UK trade sites, not by Checkatrade:

Neither source says whether its figures include VAT. Ask for a written quote showing the price with and without VAT before you sign.

Tip: Checkatrade often runs joining offers. In October 2026 some trades got their first two months free on Fixed Plans and others 50% off, on the price before VAT and subject to its terms. Offers change monthly, so ask what applies to you.

The contract: 12 months

  • Memberships are for 12 months, Checkatrade's join page says.
  • Fees for Fixed Plans are invoiced monthly in advance, under its product terms (last updated December 2024).
  • The estimated number of leads isn't guaranteed: Checkatrade's terms say the estimate isn't binding, and it can stop sending leads once the estimate is reached. Volume depends on your reviews, location and how complete your profile is.
  • Whito, a UK trades site, reports that contracts renew automatically and that cancelling your direct debit doesn't end the contract. Check the renewal and cancellation terms in your own agreement.

What membership includes

  • Vetting: Checkatrade says it runs up to 12 checks, including ID, address, qualifications such as Gas Safe or NICEIC, company status, insolvency and business finances.
  • A profile and leads for the trades and areas you choose.
  • Automatic review requests and review insights.
  • The Checkatrade Guarantee for customers, covering up to £1,000 for eligible work hired and paid for through Checkatrade.
  • Extras such as payment reminders and job-management tools.

How Checkatrade reviews work

Unlike Yelp, Checkatrade expects members to ask customers for reviews: inviting reviews is part of the Checkatrade Standard members agree to. Anyone can review a trade, member or not.

  • Anonymous reviews aren't accepted, and the job must be from the last 12 months or within its warranty period.
  • Checkatrade checks every review before it goes live, for example by contacting the customer, and may ask for photos or screenshots. Reviews usually appear within 24 hours of the checks.
  • Fake or incentivised reviews are blocked, and trades who commission fake reviews can be removed.
  • You can reply to reviews, and genuine negative reviews stay up.

Is Checkatrade worth it?

Work it out from cost per job won. Add up a year's fees, divide by the number of jobs you'd expect to win from Checkatrade leads, and compare that with what a job costs you from other sources. Ask the sales team how many leads to expect in your postcode, and remember the estimate isn't guaranteed.

Checkatrade reviews help on Checkatrade, but many customers check Google too. Ask every customer for a Google review as well, so your own profile can keep bringing work even if you leave. Our Google reviews guide shows how.
