How much does Bark cost? Credits, lead prices and whether it's worth it
Bark is free to join and sends you leads for free; you pay only when you want to contact one. Each lead is priced in credits, which cost £1.80 plus VAT each at Bark's standard price, with discounts on bigger packs. The number of credits depends on the job, and you see it before you respond. There's no commission on work you win.
How Bark's pricing works
- Joining and receiving leads is free. You spend credits only to contact a customer; messages after that are free.
- A credit costs £1.80 plus VAT at the standard price. Bark offers discounts on credit packs but doesn't publish the pack sizes or prices.
- Each lead has its own credit price, shown before you respond. Bark says it depends on the service and the size of the job: a weekly four-bedroom clean costs more credits than a one-off two-bedroom clean.
- Bark's US pricing page doesn't list a credit price, and we found no published US or Australian price.
- Credits bought since 1 November 2025 expire three months after purchase, under Bark's terms. Expired credits aren't refunded or extended.
What a lead might cost you
Bark doesn't publish typical credits per lead. Whito, a UK trades site, estimates around 5 to 8 credits for small jobs, 8 to 15 for mid-size jobs and 15 to 20 or more for large ones. That's a third-party estimate, not Bark's figure.
What matters is the cost per job won, not per lead. Work it out like this: credits per lead × price per credit ÷ the share of contacted leads you win. For example, at 10 credits a lead and £1.80 a credit, each contact costs £18 plus VAT. If you win one job in five, each job costs you about £90 plus VAT. Use your own numbers after a few weeks.
The Starter Pack and the Get Hired Guarantee
New professionals can buy a Starter Pack with enough credits to contact roughly 10 customers, plus a free Elite Pro trial. Its price is shown in your account, not published.
Bark's Get Hired Guarantee ("New business guaranteed" on its pricing page) applies to your first Starter Pack only, once. If you use all its credits, aren't hired and wait three days, you can claim and Bark adds back the same number of credits. You get credits, not cash.
Refunds and credit returns
- You can ask for credits back within seven days only if the lead's details were wrong: a bad phone number, a bounced email, someone else's details, or spam. Approved returns come back as credits.
- Not getting the job doesn't qualify for a return.
- Bark's terms say purchased credits are non-refundable. Cash refunds are at Bark's discretion, and Starter Packs, credit subscriptions and used packs aren't refunded.
Elite Pro and subscriptions
Elite Pro is an optional subscription. Bark doesn't publish its price. It includes two free responses a week to leads nobody has answered after 48 hours (these don't roll over), 20% off credit packs, higher placement and a badge.
Bark's subscriptions run for 30 days and renew automatically until you cancel, and free trials turn into paid ones. Cancelling doesn't refund the current period, and VAT is added on top.
Bark's terms also allow a fee of up to five times the lead price, charged to your card, for breaking its code of conduct. Read the terms before you start.
Reviews on Bark
Unlike Yelp, Bark lets you ask for reviews. You can send past clients your profile's review link, invite customers you were hired by through Bark, and import reviews from your Google Business Profile or Facebook. Bark says even one 5-star review makes you three times more likely to be hired.
Bark bans fake reviews, reviewing yourself and paying or rewarding people for reviews without saying so. Breaking the rules can lead to a warning, suspension or a ban.
Is Bark worth it?
It can be, for services where customers ask for several quotes, if you respond fast and track your results. Try one pack, record what each job cost you, and compare it with your other sources of work.
Leads you pay for stop when you stop paying. Reviews on your own Google profile can keep bringing enquiries, so build those alongside: our guide to getting more Google reviews shows how.
